Position Purpose & Summary
This position is responsible for the overall operations of the Cargill Animal Nutrition facility in Branch City. This role will lead the location in safety, food safety, environmental policies and laws, plant engagement, employee management and development, capital planning and execution, budget development, reliability maturation, continuous improvement and control, customer solutions, and overall location performance. The Plant Manager is a key player in the development of the long-term strategic plan for the location to achieve both ANH and Cargill strategic initiatives and excellent business results. The Plant Manager is to be looked upon as the technical leader for Plant and supports operations, maintenance, HR, Quality, Accounting, supply chain, sales, and other business objectives.
50% - People Management; emphasizing efforts to build effective leadership team for the site and create pipeline for own position as well as other positions in the leadership team:
•Create a culture aligned to Cargill’s core values and guiding principles.
•Oversee policies and programs in the areas of communications, staffing, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions and safety.
•Responsible for developing strong leaders and a diverse workforce.
•Leading engagement, recognition, development and coaching activities.
•Holds teams accountable for performance goals, standards and execution on agreed upon expectations.
25% - Manufacturing Excellence:
•Oversee the overall operational management of the plant. Including Efficiency, Reliability, and Continuous Improvement.
•Collaborate with Manufacturing Excellence team to identify, deploy and leverage opportunities.
•Responsible for aligning overall team resources meeting strategic operations goals in accordance with plant objectives.
•Collaborate with continuous improvement teams to identify, deploy and leverage opportunities.
•Collaborate cross-functionally to meet customers’ needs in a timely manner.
•Champion and leverage technology innovation
•Build strong customer relationships by delivering consistent, high-quality products in a timely manner
15% Complete safety:
•Lead EHS/Food Safety program compliant with government regulations and Cargill standards
•Oversee EHS/Food Safety incident data to identify risks and to act on risk mitigation strategies
•Champions a culture of zero injury.
•Reduce and proactively avoids environmental impact and potential risk to the business.
•Ensures FDA & State requirements are met in all feed processes.
10% Capital planning and Financial performance:
•Capital PDP processes – Planning, scheduling coordinating, and execution
•Lead, direct and control capital and operating budgets.
•Manage manufacturing budgets/metrics.
•Accountable for creating and prioritizing the plant capital plan.
Any other duties as assigned
•3+ years relevant experience in business operations.
•2+ years as a supervisor or leading others (expectations & coaching, safety, quality, productivity, planning processes and inventory control etc.)
•Practiced knowledge of production management with ability to develop understanding of plant processes and operational needs.
•Demonstrated knowledge in developing and executing capital projects
•Demonstrated experience in business acumen
•Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
•Demonstrated strong leadership skills
•Operational & technical skills & Maintenance Reliability expertise
•Bachelor's degree, preferably in Animal Science, Business, or Engineering.
•Continuous improvement experience in lean manufacturing
•Effectiveness in coaching, motivating and developing high performing individuals and teams.
•Demonstrates ability to lead a diverse workforce.
•Strong execution skills; results oriented.
