Description

The Senior Merchant primary responsibilities include leading globally traded physical corn protein positions, logistics and customer relationships. This position will work cross-functionally and across Global Business Units. This role will need a strong commercial, customer and trading minded candidate.

40% Merchandise and arbitrage all of Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North America high-protein Gluten Meal. Trade competitor 3rd party production within the boundaries of our trading limits.

20% Act as the primary contact with key Domestic NA customers, plus Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain worldwide branch-offices for our export market-share

20% Trade Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North America’s $30mm protein exposure limit and collaborate with regions on Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North Americas Group $130mm limit. Manage the legacy Cargill Texturizers business futures hedging and risk management services

20% Physical Position & Supply Chain Management. Lead the planning and execution of export and domestic supply chains.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 5 years business experience with grains and/or Non-Grain Feed Ingredients hedging

  • Proven negotiation experience in B to B environment. Large-scale contracts

  • Proven track-record of trading or working in highly volatile and ambiguous conditions

  • Capacity to perform as an individual contributor, while influencing team leads across various job families

  • Demonstrated experience in base and non-base capital expense projects and Transformation Office initiatives

  • Demonstrated proven ability to build, strategize and grow key customer volumes, relationships and margins

  • Flexible to travel as needed 10-20%

  • Flexible working hours to support global markets

Preferred

  • Knowledge of trading metrics, Cargill risk position and Commodity Risk Committee policies are preferred

  • National Grain and Feed Association and AFFCO experience is preferred
