The Senior Merchant primary responsibilities include leading globally traded physical corn protein positions, logistics and customer relationships. This position will work cross-functionally and across Global Business Units. This role will need a strong commercial, customer and trading minded candidate.
40% Merchandise and arbitrage all of Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North America high-protein Gluten Meal. Trade competitor 3rd party production within the boundaries of our trading limits.
20% Act as the primary contact with key Domestic NA customers, plus Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain worldwide branch-offices for our export market-share
20% Trade Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North America’s $30mm protein exposure limit and collaborate with regions on Cargill Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers North Americas Group $130mm limit. Manage the legacy Cargill Texturizers business futures hedging and risk management services
20% Physical Position & Supply Chain Management. Lead the planning and execution of export and domestic supply chains.
Minimum 5 years business experience with grains and/or Non-Grain Feed Ingredients hedging
Proven negotiation experience in B to B environment. Large-scale contracts
Proven track-record of trading or working in highly volatile and ambiguous conditions
Capacity to perform as an individual contributor, while influencing team leads across various job families
Demonstrated experience in base and non-base capital expense projects and Transformation Office initiatives
Demonstrated proven ability to build, strategize and grow key customer volumes, relationships and margins
Flexible to travel as needed 10-20%
Flexible working hours to support global markets
Knowledge of trading metrics, Cargill risk position and Commodity Risk Committee policies are preferred
National Grain and Feed Association and AFFCO experience is preferred
