Position Purpose & Summary

This is an exciting and key leadership position, responsible for leading the translation and accelerating the execution of adjacent and transformational growth for a key segment of the Group’s strategy.

This role will define and lead strategy work for a “Pillar” – a key segment of global product line strategies, through long-term planning, market scouting, and input from regional commercial teams. This role will focus on long-term planning and work with regional commercial teams on related action planning. This role has accountability for leading the group’s portfolio review team, and coordinate project pipeline, ensuring a prioritized stream of innovative projects and successful product launches, as well as lead early stage game-board prioritization and pursuit that complements business aspirations and innovation portfolio intent.

Principal Accountabilities

Key Business processes: Portfolio Reviews, gameboard and long-term segment planning.

30% - Strategy and planning:

  • Strategy development and long-term planning for the Pillar (leading the relevant work for development of adjacent and transformational growth). Define and lead the implementation of the Pillar strategy.

  • Work with Product Line Team and other stakeholders to design business strategy, vision, and global value propositions.

  • Lead the development of global product line business plans, ensuring proper communication across the organization and adequate issue prioritization.

  • Lead multiple project teams that may consist of internal or external resources. Organize the project work and play a key role in bringing alignment to decisions in the strategic planning process in conjunction with Business and Function leaders.

  • Work with broader S&I team to identify markets and ingredient spaces (current and new/white space) to justify directional growth changes in our businesses. Validate proposed directional change with GLT discussion.

  • Take the lead on adjacent/transformational/global MADJV early stage target pursuit and bring these targets to the GLT for decisions.

  • Work with R&D and group/ regional Marketing to define global PL opportunity space and related PL architecture plans.

  • Facilitate the definition and execution of launch planning for this portfolio, adjusted to the ‘novelty’ profile of innovation.

40% - Execution and measures:

  • Responsible for building the adjacent and transformational innovation portfolio/Intensified focus on transformational innovation.

  • Own the development and delivery of this portfolio

  • Lead pillar PRT and closely monitor the innovation pipeline (PPM and Project Tracker).

  • Develops and monitors growth targets. Portfolio Aggregated NPV, EBIDTA, ROI, results vs plan (vs previous gates)

  • Manage the product portfolio, with cross-functional inputs, to meet existing and future margin expectations

  • Continuously improve growth portfolio performance as measured by project flow rates adherence to schedule and quality of portfolio work.

20% - Customer, client interaction and Value proposition:

  • Develop global Customer value propositions.

  • This will include general market information, global value proposition and resolving some specific high impact requests to facilitate the sales process.

  • Accountable for coherence of all pillar portfolio value propositions

  • Work closely with the relevant Segment Leads and Product Line Managers to collect customer opportunities insights to be integrated as part of the global Pillar strategy. Participate to joint customer calls when needed.

  • Build and maintain a SWOT analysis and competitive overview for each product line. Develop market intelligence for the relevant product lines (including industry supply-and-demand), anticipate major changes in the market environment at the earliest possible stage to align approach where necessary. Drive the regional competitive analysis and the product line business environment benchmark.

10% - People, Resource and Budget Management:

  • Close collaboration with Regional Segment Leads and Product Line Managers

  • In project setting, lead project resources & budgets

  • Actively supports and executes on Strategic Workforce Planning, with a strong focus on strong leadership and inclusive workforce

  • Accountable for setting and managing portfolio budget based on scope of responsibility

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10 years of business experience

  • Demonstrated business development experience & ability to manage early – stage opportunities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial elements of the business

  • Proven track record of delivering results

  • Strong business acumen

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects

  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into strategic insights

  • Strong verbal & written communications skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence customers, employees, and senior management

  • Change leadership & dealing with ambiguity

  • Excellent people skills and experience in navigating and steering matrix organizations

  • Strategic thinking with a long-term view and ability to translate into tactical plans

  • Fluency in English language

  • Ability to get things done though others, lead through environment

Preferred Qualification:

  • MBA

  • Multi-cultural and international experience is a plus

  • Proven record at identifying and converting business opportunities impacting the bottom-line

  • Proven conceptual and strategic thinking skills and execution abilities

  • Experience in product lines or markets at all stages of life with focus on early strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business in a B2B capacity

  • Ability to manage the innovation projects, including product launches and new business development in a fast pace environment

  • Financial knowledge for p&l and margin / price decision making

  • Industry experience and industry stakeholder (regulatory, industry associations, …) network.
