The Corn Oil Merchant position is part of a team that is responsible for managing Cargill’s $500MM USD revenue corn oil business. Specific responsibilities include merchandising, trading, hedging, and overall management of domestic corn oil sales and position for Starches, Sweeteners and Texturizers North America (SSTNA). This role will give commercial direction to logistics, customer service and production personnel to maximize potential profits and in doing so, requires a high degree of cross-functional interaction with others in accounting, finance, plant operations, supply chain, and product line management. This position is the primary domestic US customer contact, and is also actively involved in managing price-risk, supply and demand analysis, and both cash and futures trading game plan formulation and execution. This role is also responsible for managing Cargill Oils (GEOS, SSTNA, and CASCNA Fargo Asset) relationship with Frito Lay NA, one of the largest vegetable oil buyers in NA. This senior customer management responsibility reports to the 3 stakeholder businesses and requires advanced skills in customer relationship management.
30% Manages North American Corn Oil customer accounts including cash and basis trading; meeting customer quality and logistic needs
20% Maintains merchant’s position, formulates domestic supply/demand scenarios, and participates in formulation and execution of corn oil trading game plan including broader vegetable oils analysis and cross-commodity hedging/risk management
20% Manages Cargill Oil relationship in North America with Frito Lay, ensuring smooth supply, maximizing margin, and securing growth in strategic areas
15% Setting site logistic priorities and supporting customer service work activities
15% Customer analysis supporting overall product line strategy, including customer segmentation, customer profitability analysis, and other items as assigned

Minimum 2 years of merchandising, trading, sales, or commercial experience
Demonstrated knowledge in understanding margins, futures and basis relationships
Demonstrated experience working with customers and managing relationships
Ability to travel up to 15%
