The Commodity FRM Analyst is responsible for position reporting and trading profitability analysis for one of the FIBI business in North America. This role partners with traders and commercial leads to identify and capture commodity risks in the position and executes the daily and monthly mark-to-market/P&L reporting processes. This position reconciles the financials to the trader’s estimate, validates prices used in inventory and contract valuations, and ensures that commodity risks are accurately presented in the financial statements.
40% Commodity Risk Reporting
Ensure well-controlled and accurate commodity position data, process, and reporting.
Engage with trading and commercial leads to clarify risks and escalate risk exposures in the position.
Clarify trading, commercial, and FRM responsibilities to ensure compliance with corporate commodity risk reporting policies and external regulations.
Reconcile between traders, brokers and systems, including revaluing positions to current market prices (mark-to-market) and analyzing past due contracts.
Manage timely market price curve calculations and validate trader’s curves. Ensure appropriate market data (prices, volatilities, spreads, basis, etc.) are received from sources and validated.
Monitor compliance with pre-established limits, communicate breaches, and promptly follow up on corrective action.
40% Trading P&L Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate daily and monthly mark-to-market/P&L reporting, validating market prices used for valuations and ensuring that commodity risks are accurately presented in the financial statements.
Validate market price curve calculations. Ensure appropriate market data (prices, volatilities, spreads, basis, etc.) are received from sources and validated.
Reconcile monthly financials to the trader estimate.
Perform daily and monthly administration activities for futures and options, including broker reconciliations, confirmation, commissions and margins.
Analyze financial reporting results, compile financial reporting supplemental data, and reconcile balance sheets to ensure proper controls over financial reporting.
20% Optimize Processes
Monitor and measure compliance to the internal global control framework
Identify and implement process simplification, standardization and automation in position and trading P&L reporting.
Actively participate in new systems implementations as a trading subject matter expert and in stabilization initiatives following system deployments.
Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics)
Minimum 2 years of accounting and/or commodity risk management or related experience
Working experience in Excel.
