Position Purpose & Summary

Seeking creative, passionate, UX minded Product Coach looking for their dream job in an environment of trust and autonomy. At Cargill, we’ve recently established a dedicated team of software engineers and product coaches whose sole responsibility is to rapidly develop software solutions for our businesses. We’ve adopted a lean mind-set in our approach, guiding our business partners to adopt an experiment and learn mentality when exploring digital business models or digital approaches to conducting business. We are seeking to augment our capability by expanding into the APAC region, with Singapore as a primary hub for the region. This role would be complimented with a small team (2-3) Software Engineers to provide a full-stack ability for the team to build software prototypes and products.

This role is new to the organization, and is taking on new forms as our product development capability in IT continues to evolve. As such, we need this role to provide strategic thinking leadership to the rest of the organization on how this new capability matures. Early on, this role will be responsible for a series of related tasks in support of deliverying working software prototypes and the first versions of working digitation products, as well as a general push to mature our organization on digital transformation. The key strengths of this candidate will include:

  • Incredible aptitude to empathize with our business partners and their customers

  • Ability to facilitate product ideation/discovery in extremely ambiguous situations, with participants who have no idea why they are doing it until they are half way through it.

Confidence with techniques such as:

o Persona development

o UX Design Thinking

o Paper (whiteboard) Prototyping

o Story Mapping

o Other ideation techniques

  • Ability to facilitate small teams of software engineers to rapidly develop software prototypes, potentially launching them into minimally viable products.

  • Ability to facilitate other matrixed teams in the organization on general agile disciplines and/or product design.

Principal Accountabilities

Product Coaching (Prototype and and Product Development Facilitation and Leadership)- 50%

  • Guide our business partners while they explore their digitalization initiatives through experimentation and learning cycles via our team’s “Prototype” service. This typically involves helping our business learn how to decompose their ideas into small, test-able experiments that our development teams can prototype in short cycles (6-12 weeks, typically).

  • Facilitate (similar to scrum master requirements) the developers during prototype and product development activities.

  • Provide product development guidance (prioritization expertise, lean-pincipled consultation, etc) to our business partners as they move from prototyping to product development phases of their initiatives.

Mentor/Coach Teams- 30%

  • Provide training session and teach skills that enable organization-wide adoption of Agile methodologies.

  • Provide hands-on Agile coaching to teams as well as product owners, ScrumMasters, managers and executives.

  • Guide teams towards agile development practcies, providing employees with feedback and means of improvement, catalyzing organizational growth and answering questions.

  • Provide hands-on support to all employees, collaborating with individuals across widely varying levels and positions within the organization, leading teams toward further understanding and adoption of Agile as well as overall improvement.

  • Provide “graduation” consultation to other IT teams that are moving into their own levels of agile and product maturity, especially in the context of transitioning protoytpes and products into run-state operations teams.

Design/Ideation Workshop Facilitation- 20%

  • Leveraging techniques such as UX (or customer-centric) Design and story-mapping, we need this candidate to be able to confidently facilitate members of our IT and business community through these types of “backlog-building” practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10 years of IT and business / industry work experience

  • 8 years overall experience with various software development methodologies and processes

  • 3 years experience utilizing Agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, SAFe)

  • 2 years experience in Product Design techniques such as UX Design, Story Mapping, etc

  • Experience with technically complex, cross-organizational, multi-stakeholder projects

  • Experience in creating Agile training/workshop material

  • Established skills in identifying needs, developing and applying strategies to address

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's / Graduate degree

  • Certified Agile Coach or practitioner

  • CSM, CSPO or other Agile certifications
