Job Purpose and Impact

The Grain Marketing Advisor will, with guidance, sell directly to the consumer or business purchaser or indirectly through various sales channels. In this role, you will conduct face to face and remote sales with new and existing customers, assist in evaluating customer needs and suggest appropriate products, services and solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Help identify potential customers and handle existing customer relationships.

  • Responsible for delivering an advisory service to select, paying clients, in regard to their farm's grain marketing plan and decisions, over the course of the year.

  • Responsible for selling the advisory service, with support from local sales team, to prospective clients, in an effort to achieve individual and team financial goals.

  • With guidance conduct market research and pricing, sales and merchandising activities.

  • Monitor customer and competitor activity and industry trends.

  • Protect, grow and diversify the relationship with targeted customers.

  • Support business growth by disseminating favorable information about the organization and its products and services.

  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/certificate or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Grain buying/sales experience.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the Canadian grain industry, agricultural production or farm management

  • Possess a valid Canadian drivers licence in good standing authorizing you to drive independently during your employment.

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related post-secondary education or training

  • Comprehension of Cargill’s Risk Management Tools

  • Consulting experience

  • Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management

  • Good working knowledge of grain futures, options and markets
