Position Purpose

Refrigeration-Boiler Tech I is a vital role in the daily operations of our facility. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities within this title. The types of roles available require troubleshooting, ensuring proper maintenance and operational status of equipment, using a variety of hand tools to set up, break down, adjust production line machinery, and performing other duties pertaining to hydraulics and pneumatics, all while making safety the number one priority. Maintenance requires being able to read manuals written in English and the ability to write and document information.

While performing the duties of Refrigeration-Boiler Tech I, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces; moving mechanical parts; fast paced warm/cool environment. Positions require standing the entire shift and the use of PPE is required in all areas of the facility.

Principal Accountabilities

Perform repetitive tasks. Examples include:

  • Responsible for monitoring and upkeep of all ammonia refrigeration systems.

  • Performs shift audits of boilers, steam plant and all steam end users

  • Tests and treats boiler feed water. Monitors RO and water softeners.

  • Observes boiler, condensate and feed water systems units to detect malfunctions. Make adjustments and repairs as required.

  • Maintains log of meter and gauge readings, and records data such as water test results, quantity of fuel consumed, temperature and pressures.

  • Able to troubleshoot, analyze and repair electrical control systems.

  • Willing and able to work a schedule covering 24/7/365

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • State Technical School Apprenticeship

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or an accredited Industrial Refrigeration, Boiler Technician program or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and or flexible shifts, overtime required as necessary.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Must be extremely dependable

  • Must be a team player, but also must be able to work well alone.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with compressed air systems

  • Must be able to train and be certified in Hazmat Level A Entry

  • Specific eye requirements: No contact lenses allowed in engine room when welding or electrical troubleshooting and repair

Preferred Qualifications

  • RETA or IIAR certification a plus

  • Industrial Ammonia/Refrigeration and Electrical Experience preferred.

  • Previous production or maintenance experience

  • Previous Cargill experience

  • Work history in the past 12 months
