Cargill Country Commercial Lead, CASC Philippines in Taguig, Philippines

Job Purpose and Impact

This position sets the overall strategic direction and provides leadership on commercial responsibilities for Cargill Agriculture Supply Chain (CASC) business. The position is primarily accountable for managing the cash franchise, customer partnerships, trading positions and deliver the country PNL. Additionally, the position has direct accountability to lead growth projects, manage local regulatory environment and provide insights on macro-economic trends, competitive landscape and Government policies and regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities include leading the commercial team comprising merchandising, sales/merchandising with collaboration of other functions and partnering with the Global/Regional Trading/Commercial Leads and strategic customers including in-house customers to maximize business profitability and build sustainability in volume and PNL.

Key Accountabilities

Commercial Strategy & Business Growth

  • Lead Commercial function and provide strategic and tactical inputs and execution support to achieve Commercial objectives and goals for CASC product lines.

  • Actively participate in the SSEA AUS region Commercial Strategy building, developing tactics and ensuring execution.

  • Lead and collaborate game plans with the global/regional product lines to maximize country centric global trading opportunities for both imports and exports.

  • Expanding market and customer networks and exploring commercial opportunities in new products and new markets.

  • Lead building CASC Country Commercial Strategy incl. organization set up with desire to continuously improve in profitable way.

Country Risk Management & PNL

  • Responsible for delivering CASC Country PNL comprising Supply Chain Mgmt., Distribution, NGFI and local Origination/Merchandising/Trading/Processing/Origination activities in cash and futures market for all CASC products.

  • Close collaboration with Financial Planning and Analysis, ACCOUNTING & FINANCE for timely PNL forecasts and enhancing financial performance through effectively managing GI, SGA, forex etc.

  • Close collaboration with Supply Chain and Operation and other functions enabling to achieve their Strategy and Business Plans.

  • Manage local slate positions, product line trading and distribution risk management strategies to ensure full alignment and compliance to Risk Management Group metrics for the Country slate/VAR measures. Daily PNL forecast and risk management for local slate positions.

  • Close collaboration with local GTA teams on demand and supply side to effectively build the Country SND (supply and demand) and effectively integrate it with the local trading game plans.

Customer Partnerships

  • Build customer focused culture and customer engagement & relationship management capabilities in the team. Lead Cargill’s partnerships with internal business units and other in-house or strategic outhouse customers.

  • Drive and execute Go-to-Market strategy in the country in partnership with regional commercial leads, World Trading Group and origination to deliver value and PNL with customers for product lines.

  • Champion APAC Commercial Excellence Program as Country Sponsor directly oversees the Strategic Account Plans for the targeted Strategic and Key customers and drive strategies and tactical plans to build high customer engagement.

  • Build the Added Value Solutions portfolio for the business and lead solution deployment for building deeper customer partnerships for both inhouse and outhouse customers for all product lines

  • Focused approach to build the customer partnership / minimal risk PNL.

Team Building, Collaboration, Regulatory

  • Directly oversee CASC Country trading and merchandising function.

  • Build strong talent pool across the commercial team to deliver the business objectives and results

  • Role model Cargill Guiding Principles, Ethics, Safety and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) approach.

  • Provide leadership to build a strong collaborative work culture with the other functions and BU’s and foster connectivity and collaboration with region stakeholders within CASC.

  • Effectively engage regulatory stakeholders and government bodies as needed for managing business risks & maximizing opportunities from external environment and policies framework.

  • Represent CASC Cargill Country business at industry events, in association work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience,

  • Fluent in at least one local language and English

  • 5 years of business management experience with complex activity, larger teams, and significant profitability responsibility

  • 10 years trading and merchandising commodities experience for import and export

  • Proven record on business / commercial strategy development and implementation

  • Solid dealing in a business-to-business commercial environment

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and provide new perspective, ideas
