Production Engineer

  • Ensure that all employees are wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

- Daily enforcement on Safety, especially when new jobs are assigned

- Continuously check safe operation of plant and workers

- Ensure that all safety signs are in place and correctly placed

- Report all accidents and incident to his supervisor

- Prepare permits and check on execution of permits after approval

  • Ensure all monthly safety meetings are held / documented for his shift and assist shift supervisors with their preparation and holding of meetings

People Management

  • Ensure that workers are on roster and informed about their shift schedule.

  • Control absenteeism, sick leave, annual leave and overtime.

  • Inform workers on changes in procedures and instructions, if necessary conduct training

  • Deal with conflicts and problems with workers

  • Organize and control contract workers for work in plant area

  • Assist with formal procedures for operator training

  • Ensure proper coordination for operator training: track progress and results

  • Assist HRD/ Plant Manager with operator recruitment

Plant Operations

  • Daily operation activities

  • Ensure daily shift reports are accurate, complete and delivered on time

  • Investigate emergency downtime (EDT) and take corrective action

  • Make changes to the process within range of standard operating parameters or as per instruction of the Plant Manager

  • Daily check on production volume, yield, storage tanks volume and report to plant accounting

  • Daily plant inspection with check on:

  • Quality of products and byproducts

  • Safety

  • Spills and waste

  • Housekeeping

  • Condition of equipment

  • Waste water and condition of skimpits and ponds

  • Boiler, water treatment, softener operation and chemical dosing

  • Process parameters

  • Attend daily production meeting

  • Daily check on receiving of the raw material and loadout of products in order to prevent downtime due shortage or full tank

  • Write daily instruction for shift supervisors

  • Ordering of process supplies

  • Weekly operation activities

  • Weekly report on processing standards and goals, housekeeping, production costs, yield and quality

  • Update list of problems which were solved in the previous week

  • Coordinate with Commercial and logistics on products movements, production schedule and scheduled downtime

  • Understand weekly crop planning schedule (from logistics/ plantation) and integrate into the production planning

  • Monthly operation activities

  • Monthly report on the Plant activities. The report should include the following items:

  • Risk Management (Incidents, accidents, near misses, Safety checks and inspection reports, Housekeeping performance)

  • Operation Effectiveness (Plant performance, volume, yield, downtime, standards & goals)

  • Reliability Excellence (Status of plant equipment and scheduled downtime, REPI, CI, EDT, etc.)

  • People Management (Personnel status, training, sick leave)

  • Organize monthly stock check, tank dippings, supplies, etc


  • Mechanical Engineering degree from a reputable University with minimum GPA of 2.75

  • 5-7 years of experience, Min. 3 years working experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in refinery or palm oil mill with good safety standard, knowledge of ISO standards and experience in production planning and maintenance scheduling are added advantages.

  • Knowledge: Technical/ engineering calculations and theories and previously learned facts or content

  • Comprehension: Attach meaning to facts and information

  • Application: Use, apply, transfer what you learned (engineering theories, calculations, technical facts, and other facts) to other situations

  • Analysis: Examine information by looking at its separate parts

  • Synthesis: Put together or combine what you have already learned, understood, and analyzed into something new and different

  • Evaluation: Make judgements about the work, or value, or quality of an idea or an item – a choice you can defend

  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, especially related to crush plant operations

  • Engineering knowledge – unit operations and transport processes, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics

  • Supervision and management experiences (proven leadership skills)

  • Budget preparation (good financial skills and analysis)

  • Cost control

  • Accounting / Management Reporting comprehension

  • Local government relations: Liaisons with Labor department for permitting and regulations in relation to plant operations (pressure vessels, etc.)

  • Computer literate

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
