Responsible for applying mastery knowledge offood safety systems, regulatory and Cargill requirements across the business inall areas of Food Safety and Quality. Provides high level technical expertisein the area of focus. Understands regulations and changes and assess risk andopportunities related to specific scope of responsibility. Accountable forimplementing programs, processes and documentation related to regulatoryaffairs and compliance.
Maintains thorough knowledge ofregulations/requirements in specific areas of responsibility (e.g., labeling,licensing, permitting, registration) and keeps knowledge current as regulationschange over time.
Analyzes, reviews and interprets complexregulations related to food safety and quality.
Conducts review of data and processes related toregulatory functions to ensure compliance within scope of responsibility (e.g.,permit deadlines, label requirements).
Collaborates with Corporate Affairsand other functions on governmental issues to anticipate emergingregulatory issues and determine potential impact within the business unit
Provides internal training and support onadministrative or technical tasks related to regulatory functions.
Support/maintain communication tools andchannels and interacts directly with regulatory officials on routine topicsrelated to regulatory functions.
Leads a team to identify regulatory process and system improvements anddevelops approaches for sharing regulatory affairs best practices across theBusiness Unit.
Maintains regulatory and policy documentation.Creates and updates documentation on regulatory procedures and programs byincorporating clearly defined instructions.
Develops new processes, procedures and templates to manage complexadministrative regulatory tasks. Ensures all regulatory documentation is filedand maintained.
Bachelor’s degree in a science field
Minimum 5 years of experience as a specialist orsupervisor in quality and food safety system
Demonstrated technical and leadership skills
Demonstrated project supervision skills
Demonstrated organization skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to adapt and learn in a changing workenvironment
Ability to supervise multiple priorities
Ability to effectively communicate with diversegroups of people with varying levels of education
Ability to balance and achieve positive resultsin the areas of food safety, safety, quality, productivity, and cost
Able to travel when needed and work nights,weekends, when necessary
Capable to provide leadership/motivation toengage employees in the business
Change management skills; ability to identifythe need for and affect change across multiple businesses. Ability tocommunicate effectively and lead functional managers in making appropriate foodsafety/quality decisions
Working knowledge of quality systems supervision(like TQM or Six sigma)
Strong computer skills: Microsoft officesoftware (MS word, access, powerpoint, excel)
Degree in food science or microbiology
Demonstrated ability to manage complex problemsor system development
Demonstrated leadership and process controlmanagement skills and an ability to develop team members
Understanding of statistical process controlprograms
Experience dealing with customers or suppliers
Experience mentoring people
Knowledge of multiple areas of quality and food safety
