Position Purpose

The APAC Trading Applications Manager is accountable for leading and providing direction to managers, professionals and indirect staff related to Cargill Trading technology in APAC. This position is accountable to oversee all activities related to trading IT, including regional strategy and architecture, project delivery and application support.

The position requires a strong leader who can partner effectively with all levels of the Global IT Function, with a fast paced and dynamic business and with other internal and third-party partners. As a result the position will require expertise in both physical and financial trading and will require the ability to link a complex and rapidly evolving business to the right technologies. This position will report into the APAC Business Applications Lead and have close alignment with the Global Trading Portfolio Lead for architecture alignment, strategy alignment and governance.

Additionally, this position is a member of the regional applications team for the region, and as such, provides input to the strategies for the delivery of regional applications

Principal Accountabilities

Application Leadership (30%)

  • Develop and manage regional Trading technology investments and budgets in alignment with Global IT portfolio strategy

  • Champion, lead, and align activites to enable regional Trading applications strategy and initiatives

  • Regularly communicate with all key stakeholders (e.g. Global IT Portfolio Lead, project sponsors, BU/function, team members)

  • Provide leadership and industry expertise to help define and build the strategy for the regional trading application portfolio. In alignment with the Global Portfolio, establish and maintain a roadmap that supports business processes and strategy.

  • Provide resource management leadership to ensure team is agile and focused on the right priorities and completion of work. Manage supply and knowledge of resources to match agreed demand resulting in timely execution and effective resource utilization.

  • Ensure that necessary governance & control processes are implemented & maintained to help prioritize investments for these applications.

  • Participate in regional and Global Portfolio governance teams and processes to regularly prirotize portfolio of projects and changes

  • Create, develop, implement IT strategies within the scope of this role to enable business strategies

  • Accountable to ensure input to the strategy and technical planning of system / application technology in accordance with internal and external software and security standards

  • Partners with the portfolio teams to develop the solution strategy for application portfolios to meet portfolio strategy requirements

  • Forecast capacity and knowledge needed across all technology platforms to deliver upon the portfolio in the region

  • Participate in the determination of delivery models and strategic partnerships required to meet demand

  • Provide input to the baseline cost structure and performance metrics, and needed actions to decrease costs and improve efficiency

End to End Service Delivery & Support (25%)

  • Ensure successful execution of projects, enhancements, upgrades as part of the end to end services and applications in the Trading portfolio

  • Ensure deliveries are on time, on budget and with planned benefits captured

  • Develop strategic resource and delivery plans to satisfy long term view of demand in alignment with Global IT Portfolio Delivery Strategy. Optimize the delivery model as appropriate and in alignment with the Global Delivery Strategy.

  • For opportunities or projects, help confirm the opportunity with high level estimates of the effort required and help confirm the business case

  • Work closely with all the stakeholders to maximize the value of investments in the data and technology areas

  • Accountable for team compliance with Global IT processes and data standards

  • Ensure application owners are appropriately developing and managing application roadmaps in alignment with the Portfolio strategy

  • Lead and collaborate with Application and Service Owners to develop & use KPI’s, metrics & scorecard measurements to drive continuous improvement process & operational leadership.

Relationship and Service Management (25%)

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with both internal (CBS, Middleware, Infrastructure, etc) and external IT service providers, manage the service levels.

  • Partner with Global IT resources to monitor project & service performance, capture existing status of budget/delivery, facilitate the planning & execution of changes

  • Ensure that necessary governance & control processes are implemented & maintained to help prioritize investments for these applications

  • Ensures processes and tools are executed and implemented consistently in alignment with end to end service delivery. Play the primary contact for the portfolio for implementation of application support processes (incident, change, release, problem, service management).

  • Apply an extensive understanding of the capability in determining best practices and recommendations on how to improve current practices across the team regionally

  • Assess the relative impact of IT industry trends to current and future capability needs and ensure they are appropriately assimilated into improvement initiatives

People Leadership (20%)

  • Accountable for developing strong leaders and a diverse team through multiple approaches to attract and retain talent

  • Oversees general workforce administration policies and programs in the areas of communication, staffing, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions and safety

  • Develops planning for future workforce needs and participates in the selection of employees

  • Leads and implements systems and processes to maintain a highly engaged team across the region

  • Deliver timely and effective performance feedback

  • Coach employees in career/performance development

  • Execute employee management processes (including staffing decisions, coaching, development plans, performance evaluations)

  • Establish & lead a culture of engagement in which team members develop & apply their talents while enabling work/life choice

  • Act as a guide and leder to the team regionally, including developing and mentoring employees to ensure Cargill has the key competencies required to meet information technology needs

  • Accountable for work execution and deliverable quality of team members

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or business, or equivalent experience

  • Proven track record of successfully leading in similar roles

  • 10 years relevant business or IT leadership experience in solution and service delivery roles

  • 7 years experience successfully leading teams to high performance including developing, coaching and motivating employees

  • Knowledge and experience in the Trading environments

  • Experience working in or working with Trading systems and trading environments

  • Demonstrated success in delivering medium to large scale projects, capturing planned benefits and delivering on-time and on-budget

  • Demonstrated success in managing a significant budget with demonstrated measures of returns on investments

  • Proven track record of anticipating emerging issues, problem solving & implementing new solutions, including improving efficiency, quality, cost, and productivity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization, including the ability to communicate technical and business information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrated conflict management, influencing, negotiation and consulting skills

  • Effectively manage / lead organizational change and achieve desired results

  • Ability to successfully manage ambiguous situations and multiple priorities within a service environment

  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold internal controls

  • Transformational Leadership skills with a deep understanding and practical application of Cargill’s change framework that will enable the continued transition of activities in alignment with our CBS strategy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in IT, Business or related field

  • Experience of delivering CTRM projects and other trading systems

  • Successfully managing IT projects being implemented/rolled-out over a large number of locations

  • Proven track record of translating requirements into process, data and technological models and specifications

  • Experience with 3rd party service providers and offshore delivery models

  • Effectively manage / lead organizational change and achieve desired results

  • Demonstrated strong business partnering
