Cargill Commercial Category Lead Bakery/Confectionary in Schiphol, Netherlands

Position Purpose & Summary

The Bakery and Confectionary category are instrumental to come to our 2025 strategic target with high expected growth rate of 5 mio euro AOE between now and the next year. This will require heavy lifting from both a commercial set up and product offering point of view. The Commercial Category Lead Bakery is part of the O&S refinery Commercial Function and is responsible to achieve the ambitious growth targets for the bakery/confectionary win-category. The Commercial Category Lead has an in-depth knowledge of the European Bakery and confectionary market both from a customer point of view as form a (specialty )oils and fats ingredient point of view. He or she is also leading commercially the category plans and growth. Key is the commercialization of the category specific product architecture and to develop, manage, monitor the commercial plan in order to reach the desired business category goals. The Commercial Category Lead will work in close collaboration with the Product Portfolio Managers and the Marketing Category tag to ensure Cargill O&S can accelerate growth in the value-added space linked to the defined win-categories. Main accountabilities are:

  1. Developing and supporting commercial opportunities with an in-depth view of bakery and confectionery current customer (specialty) oils and fats needs. Bring support to the relevant account managers during commercialization and validation of customer related business opportunities.

  2. Close collaboration and coordination within the category team and Product Portfolio Manager to make sure we pro-actively capture customer and consumer trends/opportunity spaces/dynamics and translate this into projects and commercial/marketing actions to support continuous growth in line with our strategic aspirations.

  3. Responsible to establish and deliver budget / strategic targets and achieve CM and volume growth within the assigned win-category. Develop category commercial AOP and assess progress by leading demand review for the category and makes sure the right KRA’s and KPI are set towards sales force managed by Sales Food Lead.

Principal Accountabilities

70% LEAD WIN-CATEGORY AND GROW CONTRIBUTION MARGIN , INCREASE VALUE ADD SALES REVENUES

  • Core member of (global) win-category team as voice of the customer.

  • Lead the European category team, define and execute commercial strategy to win

  • Increase the product and solution offering of Cargill with regards to specialty oils and fats like CBE and CBR in close collaboration with portfolio manager, sourcing and R&D

  • Participate, coordinate, lead commercial projects in order to grow value add sales within the bakery/confectionary category.

  • Participate, coordinate, lead DNPSS Projects L1A to 1-3

  • Translate category plan into KRA’s / KPI for the sales community with follow up on progress

  • Responsible to achieve growth targets and monitor/steer/drive progress. Drives the category view within the IBP Demand Review incl risk and opportunity assessment

  • Support to Product Portfolio Manager in successful commercialization new products and solutions (training, target setting, etc.)

  • Effectively communicate category goals/activity towards sales community and bring their feedback (voice of the customer) into category team

  • Increase external awareness by representing the category in key external initiatives or category industry associations to represent Cargill’s value proposition and capabilities towards the external market.

  • Contribute to commercial AOP by ensuring Bakery/confectionary Category AOP is fully reflected and support in roll out.

  • Pro-actively capture customer and consumer trends/opportunity spaces/dynamic

20 % DEVELOPING AND SUPPORT COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES

  • Involvement in commercial relationship with some selected customers / companies leading in their category with focus on refined oils and fats sales

  • Build, nurture and leverage relationships (internally & externally) across a very broad spectrum of people, roles, levels of responsibility, and diverse geographies to maintain and increase in-depth industry knowledge.

  • Ensure account managers are gaining in depth understanding of customers and specific (un)met customer needs (present/future) and translate this into profitable solutions.

  • Possess expertise on market segments, S&D and trends to become a trusted advisor to both colleagues within and outside our business and to customers

  • Represent our company at customer visits, trade fairs, industry events and host seminars

  • Accurate forecasting in IBP Tactics and active usage of Leap as source of all relevant customer information.

10% CLIENT INTERACTION / BUSINESS PARTNERING

  • Active member of the Food commercial leadership team.

  • Represent Cargill at customer/customer-industry functions

  • Organize initiatives in line with our annual operating plan

  • Internally ensuring category communication across regions

Required Qualifications

  • In depth knowledge about the oils and fats market in specific with regards to specialty oils and fats both from a commercial and technical point of view within Europe/Russia

  • Proven track record within the vegetable oils market for bakery and confectionary applications as technical sales, sales manager, R&D manager or product line manager.

  • Fluent English; spoken and written skills in additional languages are a plus (e.g. French).

  • University degree.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit who likes a fast-changing environment

  • Healthy business acumen & attitude, affinity with value-based selling and building a branded product offering .

  • Proven Analytical and conceptual skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of PC-tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree in Economics,

  • 7+ years relevant experience technical sales experience
