Analytics Hub at Cargill Business Services is set up to enable and expedite the Analytics journey of the company and help make it a success.
As a Data Scientist, you will independently work with various business units/functions within Cargill to understand their business problems/goals & use all the leading advanced analytics techniques to develop solutions and provide actionable insight to Cargill’s businesses.
75% Build Models/Algorithms
Build required statistical models and heuristics to predict, optimize, and guide various aspects of our business based on available data.
Should have a deep understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms.
Synthesize diverse, complex information to develop a compelling story with data and insights
Continuously seek out industry best practice and skills development to create new capabilities for data analytics at Cargill to drive better business decisions.
Effectively communicate, through written and oral presentation, of insights to multiple levels of management across business units and functional areas.
Leverage strong business acumen and business domain knowledge to anticipate business inquiries and act accordingly and decisively.
10% Consulting and Relationship Management
Liaise with the respective Business or Function teams to build trust and relationship by efficient delivery and engagement
Regularly interface with architects, analysts, process designers, and BU/Function subject matter experts to understand and evaluate business opportunities
Provide thought leadership to peers and senior leaders alike in the Data science space
10% Create Artifacts and Build Knowledge Base for CoE
While working with a business or function, continue to contribute to the Analytics Hub community of practice by building reusable artifacts, sharing knowledge and best practices
Establish contacts with Analytics experts within and outside of Cargill to keep pace with latest trends and updates from the Analytics industry and apply to Cargill as relevant
5% Miscellaneous Duties

Project demands may from time to time require work during non-standard business hours.
Provide consultation on project work and data related problems
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics, Operations Research, or related fields.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in the data science field
Solid foundation in mathematics and statistical modeling to be able to solve really complex business problems via statistical models, machine learning algorithms, text analytics/NLP etc.
Strong knowledge of databases and/or data models, Statistics (Regression, Clustering, Decision trees, Hyper graphs etc.), simulation, scenario analysis, etc.
Strong knowledge of distributed computing, data warehouse, data mining, business analytics and software development
Solid data management and statistical modeling skills: SAS, R, Mahout, Matlab, Python (SciPy, NumPy), SQL and Excel
Experience with some of these methods: Regression, Decision Trees, CART, Random Forest, Boosting, Evolutionary Programming, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems, Bayesian Belief Networks, Support Vector Machines, Ensemble Methods, Association Rules, Singular Value Decomposition, Principal Component Analysis, Clustering.
Experience in requirement gathering through extensive workshops and creating business requirement documents
Strong experience of directly working with business or stakeholders from across the globe
Excellent communication and client engagement skills
Demonstrated curiosity and initiative
Ability to work in a globally dispersed team and matrix organization
English in advance level
Experience with Front End BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Business Objects)
Experience in agriculture or commodity businesses.
