Fresh Meat Operator 2nd shift

This full time position is located in Owatonna MN; however please expect receiving calls from a 952 number in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.

The plant runs a 7 day- 24 houroperation. This position will work 2 days on 2 days off; 3 days on2 days off; this will require working every other weekend.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage report on key area targets such as employee safety, turnover, department costs, customer satisfaction, yields and production. Other accountabilities in this position might require: effective employee relations, adhering to annual budgets, work process improvement, downtime and follow up for process execution, and other duties as required. This position demands high leadership and coaching skills for employees in the operations area.

Primary Duties:

  • Batching meat slurry

  • Cleaning of equipment and area

  • Sanitize equipment according to the plan

  • Maintenance of equipment

  • Unloading of meat trailers

  • Proper scanning of meat tote labels

  • Cleaning and preparation of equipment for changeovers

  • Sampling meat and control quality

  • Documentation required

  • Identify lots and FIFO on meat totes

  • Identify and handle waste

  • Transfer responsibilities for shift to shift

Secondary Duties:

  • Follow all plant safety procedures

  • Must be able to obtain for lift license

  • Other duties as assigned by management will be required

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and climbing ladders.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas

  • Must be able to operate machinery

  • Must be able to read/write English

  • Ability to work overtime

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts


  • Prior experience in production related work
