Cargill's North America protein business produces fresh, frozen and cooked beef, turkey, pork, chicken and egg protein offerings, sauces, soups, case ready products, pet treats and by-products for our retail, foodservice and food ingredient customers.

Position Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor will play a vital role in the success of the maintenance department and Cargill Case Ready. This role will be responsible for championing our Reliability Excellence rollout and lead all efforts as they pertain to maintenance and Reliability. As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will develop a deep understanding of maintenance responsibilities and assess and initiate opportunities for improvement. You will create and promote a team-building environment that promotes stakeholder enthusiasm and innovation.

Also, you will implement and recognize continuous improvement through ensuring stakeholder involvement in problem solving and decision-making. Additionally, you are responsible for executing safety initiatives and communicating safety awareness. This position will assure all GMP's, and Standard Operation Process (SOP) are executed as planned. This position will communicate business results and achievement of departmental goals and milestones.

Lastly, you will promote stakeholder focus through training and development and be a lightning rod for change, good ideas, and getting the job done.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Development and supervision of maintenance stakeholders. Responsible for developing a highly engaged, empowered and effective maintenance team.

20% Accountable for maintenance, utilities, equipment repair, and sanitation requirements. Troubleshoot causes of plant equipment problems and oversees coordination of proactive and reactive activities daily. Develops and maintains plant preventative maintenance programs. Coordinates repairs and supplies/parts purchasing through relationship with the Maintenance Planner.

15% Maintain adherence to all Corporate Environmental Policies and Procedures to keep the facility in compliance with all Federal and State laws. Manage wastewater treatment system operation to ensure permit compliance. Ensure Process Safety Management program is maintained. Support and champion Reliability Excellence and drive departmental efficiencies.

10% Provide leadership in the areas of customer focus, continuous improvement, food safety, and personal safety as they relate to maintenance activities. Support a ZERO injury culture and drive continuous improvement to safety and safety programs. Ensure contractors/employees comply with all relevant Governmental and Cargill Safety Requirements.

10% Develop and maintain energy efficient systems with demonstrated continuous energy use improvements.

5% Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • 2 years of experience in food operation/processing and/or manufacturing environments.

  • 2 years of Working experience of processing plant/equipment.

  • Computer literacy and eagerness to learn SAP/PPE systems.

  • Positive attitude and problem-solving mentality.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (Production, QA, Warehouse), contractors, suppliers, and inspectors.

  • 2 years of Reliability pro-active maintenance experience

  • Able and willing to work M-F from 9pm until 7am with occasional weekends

  • Able and willing to work in a climate control environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Degree in the field or equivalent experience.

  • Specialized coursework/background – boiler, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing

  • Strong background in Reliability Excellence or similar in application.

  • Supervisory experience with competencies in coaching, mentoring and building strong teams.

  • Maintenance experience in a food processing environment

  • Understanding of refrigeration and utility management

  • Familiarity with maintenance management software SAP/PPE or equivalent CMMS.

  • Sound understanding of PLC, Logix and other related systems.
