Operations Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for leading the 2nd shift hourly team members to attain production and quality goals while ensuring the safest working environment possible. The person in this position is responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team-oriented workforce in order to improve business results.

A high performer in this position will be an excellent communicator be able identify problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolve issues; ensure production resources (including material, equipment, and human resources) are available as needed to maintain product schedules; support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Oversee day-to-day operation of assigned area including work flow, adherence to plan, management of work in process, job assignments rotations, etc.

20% Ensure safety of workforce by partnering with your team to reinforce safe behaviors as well as identify and address unsafe behaviors and conditions. You will also deliver of monthly safety training topics, department safety audits, participate in incident reviews, as well as monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

20% Support positive employee relations in all aspects of interaction with employees including valuing differences, engagement action planning, and monitoring compliance with company policies and proceducers which support these goals.

10% Effectively orient, train, and develop all employees utilizing new hire discussion guides, performance review forms and other tools.

10% Monitor product quality to meet customer specifications, ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices are effectively deployed in area of responsibility.

10% Perform essential record keeping and timekeeping functions for department personnel using Kronos system. Monitor employee attendance andabsenteeism, hold employees accountable as necessary.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 years of supervisory experience /or 3 years of supervisory experience in food processing.

  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work overtime, holidays and weekends if needed by the business

  • Ability to work on a cold environment

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Manufacturing operations work experience.

  • Previous experience with computerized timekeeping systems, such as Kronos.

  • Additional computer skills preferred, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Outlook.

  • Ability to relocate within the Company.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Decision making and problem solving skills.
