Position Purpose & Summary

The purpose of this role is to partner with business/product line leaders, serve as the CTL function point of contact, align/implement the transportation and logistics strategy within the business and drive T&L value across the supply chain. This position will report directly to the CTL Regional Leader and be a member of the CTL regional leadership team. The position will also be a member of the served business BOSC (Business Operations and Supply Chain) / SC leadership team.

The BTL (Business Transportation Lead) is responsible for the full scope of the business’s transportation & logistics activities, performance metrics, and budget. The position will also lead T&L value creation opportunities across the business

Includes work in the areas of strategy & execution leadership, business budget & resource management, sourcing compliance, activity monitoring & measurement, supply chain interface, customer relationship and talent management inputs

This position will work in partnership across the integrated supply chain of the business coordinating with Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service, Order Management, CSSP, and Operations to help to measure and optimize performance across the integrated supply chain from supplier to customer.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Strategy and Planning

Leads development and implementation of transportation & logistics long term vision and strategic direction for a large Business Group, including long-range objectives, policies and strategy

Responsible for ensuring Function policies and best practices are incorporated into Business Group strategies

Provides T&L input into IBP, Supply Chain Planning, and Strategic Pricing processes

Provides management oversight and support to successfully execute short and long-term transportation & logistics strategies

Ensures the business’ full participation in CTL shared service (CBS) strategy

Actively participates in and presents at planned meetings, including BOSC, CTL and other leadership meetings for a large Business Group

Using an advanced knowledge of transportation & logistics practices and procedures, understands markets for a large Business Group, to identify opportunities for Cargill business

Supports and provides input to the development & updates to the vision, mission and multi-year plan of Supply Chain as a job-family, linked to the Enterprise/Group vision, mission and strategy as well as Global Supply Chain standards.

30% Performance Management

Own Business’ T&L budget and service deliverables within the region

Accountable for achieving transportation & logistics targets and goals for a large business within the greater integrated Supply Chain

Works with supply chain colleagues to identify, generate and track metrics across the business to measure transportation & logistics performance and value realization against defined short and long-term objectives (eg. G and A cost reduction, process improvements and system utilization)

Recommends enterprise and business group T&L continuous process improvements within the supply chain

Ensures governance of all transportation & logistics activities within a large business supply chain complying with Corporate/CTL/regulatory policies/controls/PDTOptimization of the manufacturing footprint, warehouses, and inventory as well coordinating with CSSP and CTL for transportation lines from supplier to customer to deliver best in class service and cost

Leading or sponsoring specific projects, initiatives and actions as identified in the Business, Product Line, or functional plans. These can be cross-functional, cross-product line and cross-regional

Measuring & managing results for continuous progress (up), corrective action- and decision taking in all aspects of the business but concentrating on T&L.

25% Relationship Management & Alignment

Leverage and align business transportation strategies with CTL strategic priorities, including mode, regional, CTL operations, business/strategy development and talent/HR

Link Business to CTL and shared services execution and improvement opportunities

Aligns resources to execute against short term and long-term strategies and meeting transportation & logistics organization and business objectives

Stakeholder relationships within the Business, partners with senior leadership to manage more significant and/or more complex transportation & logistics matters for a large business which may have significant financial or competitive risk and/or risk to Cargill strategy, brand, or global reputation

Partners and collaborates with:

Other BTL team members within and across regional organizations to ensure reliable service delivery across internal clients and external customers.

Supply Chain Leads – building on what already exist as collaboration between the SC Leaders, initiating new initiatives (if desired/required) to create more harmonized approach in e.g. recruitment of trainees, talent development, project management and execution etc.

With CSSP: Cargill Strategic Sourcing and Procurement – establishing a sustainable structure for working together in this setting, sharing knowledge and experience and harvesting on the scale of what Cargill has to offer and can gain from it.

Plant Operations Leads as appropriate

Jointly own the service level agreement and review between CTL and business and rest of integrated supply chain

Identify, onboard, develop T&L and overall BOSC talent (i.e. partners with other members of the regional transportation & logistics leadership team to develop, manage and engage talent as well as other BOSC sub functions).

5% Other Duties as Required.


Minimum Required Qualifications

Minimum 8 years’ experience in Supply Chain related job (e.g. Planning, Operations, Logistics, Procurement/Sourcing)

University Degree preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field

Experience with working in a complex multi-modal environment

Experience with working in a matrix organization set-up

Leadership experience (managing through others, influencing, developing) – 5 years proven track record

Experience and proven track record in project and change management (broad scope and cross-functional)

Experience and knowledge of Transportation & Logistics laws and regulations

Strong team builder and team player (Player/Coach principle)

Strong communication, influencing and motivation skills

Adept at operating in the intersections of facility operations, information technology, and external marketplace realities.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge/experience of Lean/Six Sigma is a plus

Advanced University Degree preferably in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field

Experience leveraging the functionality of a Transportation Management System (TMS)

Experience with working in a large matrix organization

SAP Knowledge.
