CSD is Cargill's Corporate Strategy and Development group responsible for strategy development at the corporate and business unit levels, mergers & acquisitions, and new business development. As a CSD Associate Intern you will work on the most critical problems Cargill businesses face. You will support our mission of nourishing the world and contribute to the financial success of Cargill. Working in CSD allows you to partner with business and functional leaders in an integrated operating company across all geographies and derive benefit from their experience and expertise while partnering with them and their teams to deliver results.

Please note we have two distinct internship opportunities: Corporate Development or Corporate Strategy. Please apply to only one. Both internships will be located in Minneapolis, MN. Our summer internships last approximately 10 weeks.

Practice Areas:

Corporate Strategy: In this role professionals focus on strategy development both at the corporate level and through enterprise rotations working directly with Enterprise Strategy Leads. Each intern’s assignments and experiences will be based on business need, interest, and capability. CSD Internships will last approximately 8-10 weeks. Learn more about CSD at

Principal accountabilities will include:

  • Coordinate with all relevant client team members to organize and structure the project work

  • Provide fact-based analysis, creative thinking and consulting to Enterprises, Groups, Functions, or the Executive Team. This may include conducting Industry studies to determine business expansion opportunities, analyzing operating and financial results of Cargill businesses and competitors, evaluating major capital expenditure proposals

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis, synthesize results and communicate actionable recommendations

  • Support Strategy Managers and PTLs on various projects

  • Provide coaching and feedback to CSD and client team members

  • Further develop quantitative and qualitative skills through CSD's training curriculum


Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an MBA or relevant advanced degree with anticipated graduation date in 2020.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

  • Demonstrated leadership and excellence working in teams.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, especially in complex, ambiguous situations requiring integrated application of skills (e.g., finance, marketing, strategy, operations).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in consulting, strategy or food/agriculture.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual.

  • International experience.

  • Degree concentration in strategy or finance.
