Description

The Process Systems & Controls (PS&C) Lead is responsible to lead the Process Systems & Controls function within the Cocoa & Chocolate NA (CCNA) Business Operations and Supply Chain & Manufacturing Excellence team. The individual will be responsible for developing and deploying the CCNA PS&C strategy, in support of and alignment with the Cocoa & Chocolate Global PS&C strategy.

In addition, this position will be responsible for developing solutions, benchmarking, continuous improvement and identification of efficiencies within the PS&C space. The CCNA PS&C Lead supports, coaches and trains within the NA region in deploying Cargill’s Reliability Excellence processes to ensure continuous improvement in productivity of physical assets associated with automation, electrical, and instrumentation (AEI) and the application of Cocoa & Chocolate Global and BOM standards. The CCNA PS&C Lead will be directly involved in the development and deployment of standards, leading practices and medium to long term strategic plan development for the region.

Summarized focus areas for the CCNA PS&C Lead are:

1) Provides direction, guidance and subject matter expertise to NA AEI roles

2) Provides coaching and training in the resolution of complex technical matters

3) Provides PS&C Reliability Excellence input in a) the development of Engineering standards for the CCNA Group, b) the development of new capital projects in the PS&C domain for the region

4) Identifies opportunities for improvement in the PS&C domain.

5) Support and develop standards/policies within CCNA

Principal Accountabilities

50% Process Systems & Controls Domain Application

Lead and develop the Process Systems & Controls (PS&C) function within the region to drive asset health improvement and production process stability, including Automation, Electrical & Instrumentation (AEI), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) & Operational Intelligence. Drives continuous improvement by establishing performance measures/benchmarks in PS&C efficiency and through data driven analyses. Develops and implements strategies to enhance the PS&C regional capabilities in alignment with value creation & cost savings goals set by the CCNA Manufacturing Excellence team. Active participation with the CCC Group PS&C team providing input on the development of standards, leading practices and in helping develop the long and short-term PS&C strategy for the CCC Group. Supports long term vision for Group PS&C activities and identifies and prioritizes PS&C value creation programs for CCNA.

30% Best Practice Governance & Application

Leads and drives implementation of “leading Practices” to enhance the PS&C capabilities within the region. Ensures PS&C talent capability is identified, built, and developed and ensures learnings are actively promoted in the NA region. Develops/maintains leading practices for the NA region aligned with the CCC Global group. Develops & conducts PS&C sustainability assessments and follow up actions to ensure compliance with Cargill Global Compliance Policy.

20% Capital Project & Technical Governance

Interfaces directly with the project engineering team in the review and development of new and existing Engineering standards and owns the process for providing structured Front-End Loading engineering support. Coaches with NA region in developing RE input in the specific site managed projects. Serve as technical expert within the region on both EHS and PSM topics, including but not limited to, Critical Safety Devices, Safety Interlock Systems, Safety Integrity Level analysis, Electrical Safety, etc. Approval/endorsement for MOCs on PS&C related safety systems working with Manufacturing Excellence team for all CCNA plants

This position is based in Milwaukee, WI. Candidates based in or around Minneapolis, MN will also be considered.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical discipline OR Associate’s Technical degree plus minimum 5 years AEI experience OR minimum 7 years AEI experience in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing and/ or project management

  • Strong Knowledge in plant operations related to Process, Systems & Controls of plant systems and associated safety systems

  • Demonstrated knowledge / working understanding of manufacturing and operational processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others (influencing skills).

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to complex technical problems.

  • Demonstrated execution capacity

  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written within multiple levels of the organization.

  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications by external organizations in Electrical, Instrumentation and / or Automation, for example, Certified Automation Professional (CAP) Certification through Instrument Society of America (ISA)

  • Formal training in root cause analysis & reliability centered maintenance

  • Formal training and/or certification in predictive technologies (MCE, vibration, infrared, ultrasound, machinery lubrication)

  • Automation Experience (e.g. DCSs, PLCs, HMIs, control strategies, process control and data historian.

  • Electrical Experience (e.g. 15KV distribution switchgear, transformers, breakers, motor control, UPS).

  • Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEC standards and ISA standards
