The purpose of the Production Planner position is to create, maintain and balance production schedules across multiple resources and geographies to meet the needs of both external and internal customers while identifying and communicating key shortages and constraints in the short-and medium-term to all affected parties. This position also acts as a knowledge expert and resource to other team members as it relates to detailed scheduling and related production resources.

Principal Accountabilities

50% Detailed Production Scheduling - Create, maintain, and communicate a detailed, day to day, SKU by SKU schedule using SAP APO. Included in this is revising the plan as customer requirements and resource performance change from day to day, balancing customer prioritization as well as production constraints. Key tools include SAP, BI and other ad hoc reports. Communicate key shortages and priorities to customer service, production, and supply chain teams.

30% Material Requirements Planning - Plan and ensure all materials and ingredients needed for production are on hand to meet the daily production schedule. Ensure liquid loads are coordinated and are balanced with available labor and tank space.

10% Production Performance - Track performance to plan and supply plan performance, take action accordingly, communicate misses to affected teams, and drive continuous improvement.

10% Miscellaneous - Maintain master data in SAP related to resources, utilization rates and production calendars, materials, etc.



  • High-school diploma

  • 2 years (or more) of experience in a production planning, supply planning, or plant operations role

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment

  • Knowledge of chocolate/compound production, or experience and knowledge in a food manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to to adapt to change

  • Effective communication skills and and ability to tailor a message to diverse audience

  • Ability to multitask and balance aggressive timelines

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams

  • Analytical proficiency in Excel

  • Positive and constructive attitude

  • Ability to understand a long-term production plan and how it relates to a short to medium-term detailed schedule


  • BS/BA degree

  • APICS Certification

  • Experience working in SAP
