Responsibilities:

The primary functions of the Field Representative position includes representing all Cargill brands in a positive manner utilizing a disciplined sales approach to support and grow their specific species market share within all channels of distribution. This will be demonstrated by providing sales support within the designated species category to Key Independent Retailers and Cargill Territory Managers and Account Mangers by focusing on Commercial Ranch Sales. In addition, the FSTR will strengthen relationships with key veterinarians, universities, and top species influencers. The FSTR will provide sales support to Territory Managers and Account Managers by helping to promote Cargill’s brands, supporting existing account relationships, and identifying, securing and developing new customers to increase Cargill’s market share within a designated geography.

Principal Accountabilities:

70% - Species Sales

  • Identify, develop, and execute sales opportunities with Commercial Ranches, Veterinarians, Race Tracks, universities, and key independent retailers. This will be accomplished by collaborating with Account Managers, Territory Managers, and Key independent retailer accounts.

  • Maintain active prospect lists, provide sales call reporting and forecasting.

  • Know the competitive markets in their territory.Communicate with Innovation Team, Account Managers, and Territory Managers to maximize sales, margins and efficiencies.

  • Develop effective business strategies and marketing plans to increase the market share of Cargill products.

  • Manage the investigation and recommend settlement of complaints that cannot be settled at the local level.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

20% - Species Training Support

  • Develop and execute species training support for Cargill Territory Mangers and Account Mangers.

  • Develop and execute species training support for Key Independent Retailer owners, managers, and sales staff.

  • Develop and Execute species training support for university and veterinarians.

  • Support all national training efforts in respect to new species product launches, and product promotions.

  • Develop and execute high level species related consumer education events. Including independent retailer sponsored events, National and Regional Association events, and industry trade shows

10% - Species Market Development

  • Keep abreast of new species trends and products within the industry and relay this information to the Baxter Team and Marketing groups via written and verbal presentations.

  • Plan meetings and develop presentations when appropriate.

  • Assist with sales development of new products and services in conjunction with the Innovation Team, Baxter Leadership Team, and Marketing Team to ensure sales success.

  • Build a strong network with all species related disciplines.

Relocation will not be provided for this position.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • 80% Travel - Ability to travel 4-5 days per week / including 2-3 overnights per week

  • 2 Years of Species Related Knowledge

  • 2 year Sales experience

  • Valid Driver’s License & Automobile Insurance

  • Medium Level User of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Collaboration Skills

  • Good sales and communication skills required

  • Strong relationship building skills and desire to work with retail customers and consumers

  • Ability to create and sustain relationships through strong written/verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized and self-motivated, able to set and follow priorities, manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.Demonstrated ability of responsible decision making

  • Strong collaboration skills with desire and ability to work across multiple job families and multiple layers of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Animal Nutrition Sales

  • BS degree, preferably in Animal Nutrition or Marketing, or equivalent work experience in related agricultural field

  • Bi-Lingual -Spanish Speaking

  • 5 Years Species Related Experience

  • 5 Years Farm and Ranch Sales
