Position Purpose & Summary

  • Product Management is a strategic business function concentrated on providing the best solutions to meet the needs of the market. Product managers identify the needs for new products or services, work with a team to create and launch them, oversee those already in the market, and manage those products or services successfully throughout the various stages of its lifecycle (this includes discontinuing solutions that no longer generate sufficient profit)

  • Behind every great product is a great product management. A product management team has to deliver value to a business, so we play a strategic role in planning and managing collaboration with multiple stakeholders. The product specialist has to thrive while working with multiple teams to ensure a tangible impact on the company, and maintain creativity and dedication to delivering customers the best product or service

  • Key part of team and work together with Product Line and Pricing Manager for overall planning of strategy and development of product portfolio across the categories

  • Ensure product portfolio reflects company product innovation strategy and ensure new product development are integrated to fit the portfolio strategically

  • Works closely with multiple key stakeholders to ensure product portfolio plan is aligned with overall business strategy with strong business and assets management

Principal Accountabilities

Product Management (70%)

  • Execute the product strategy as defined by Product Line and Pricing Manager

  • Co-developing of Product plan and Strategic Targets (mid term planning 1-3 years)

  • Play vital role in and responsible for Co-planning and Co-development of product portfolio, ensuring the 24 months product plan for each categories are aligned with overall business strategy and direction with considerations of Asset Optimization (Refinery plant), providing key proposal input for PMR facilitator

  • Develop and maintain tools, reporting dashboards to provide product portfolio visibility to help identify a robust product plan and product roadmap for PMR and monthly Sales and Marketing meeting

  • Be part of team to design using the opportunity mapping and product line architecture methodology to identify opportunities for new product development and existing product enhancements, understanding both customers’ needs and competitive offerings

  • Under the limited supervision, this positions is expected to maintain deep product expertise, including attributes and functionality, value propositions and competitive positions and market dynamics

  • Following existing SOP, this position will Conduct Product Life Cycle Analysis to evaluate product profitability, conduct SKU rationalization, and prioritize product as key to input for TOTAL Product Portfolio Management to optimize investment.

  • Ensures new product stages are developed and commercialized in a timely manner.

  • Key team member in New Product Co- Development together with Product Development team.

  • Assist to prepare monthly sales and marketing report

  • To support marketing ad hoc project when appointed

Product Line /Asset Management (30%)

  • Will be groom to be the successor of West Port Asset Product Line management. Ensure Lauric (tropical) Annual Product Plan is contributing to the overall PnL.

  • Coordinate with Supply chain team and demand planning team to manage the volume opportunities in weekly and monthly Demand and Supply meeting.

  • Asset Optimization (Drive and challenge Planning/ production plan – i.e. multistock / Fractionation / Hydro plant – and packing line optimization utilization following the product strategy)

  • Asset Plan strategic choice – champion the outsource need discussion with operations and product prioritization, and work closely with origination team to outsource the requirement.

  • Preparing communication packages (marketing and sales) in case of major supply disruptions


Education, Experience, Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree (Business degree in Economics / marketing) or (Science degree in Food Science / Chemical Engineering)

  • 2-4 years in Product Management experience in B2B Food Ingredient environment

  • Experience in palm oil industry (marketing department) will be an added advantage

  • Proven strong analytical skills and Strategic thinker

  • Customer focus with good communication cum coordination skills with both internal and external parties

  • Team player with good listening skills that cultivate inspired positive work environment. Stakeholder management & effective influencer

  • Ability to work with complexity, independent and ability to connect the micros to problem solving.
