Business FPA Analyst

Position Purpose

Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate business group (CCC) operates across the globe with cocoa and chocolate plants in Europe, Brazil, North America, Asia and Africa. The processing assets are complemented with sourcing operations in origin countries and sales offices in destination countries. Cocoa, being the raw material for our chocolate business, forms the core of our business model and is managed on a global basis while chocolate is a more regional business model. The cocoa business covers originating about 600,000MT of beans, processing them into cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and cocoa powder, marketing / sales of cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and cocoa powder and all the risk management in between. We are a very strong number 2 in the industry.

We are currently looking for a Business FP&A Analyst for our Asian operations since the current incumbent is stepping into a new role.

The Business FP&A Analyst shall focus on:

  • Working with the leadership team on value creation iniatives and top line growth by assessing current and future business results, early identification of new opportunities and new threats for business, including key role in M&A projects

  • Performing industry and competitor analysis and disseminating relevant information to key stake-holders

  • Dashboards, scorecards and process improvements

  • Integrated business planning exercise (IBP)

  • Bringing insights on how technology can help us in our decision making

  • Cost of goods sold efficiencies

  • Reduction, wherever possible, and optimization of SGA

  • Maintaining an effective relationship with the Accounting & Finance Teams.

Principal Accountabilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (70%):

  • Identify new metrics (i.e. KPIs) to drive performance relative to strategic priorities; enhance scenario planning analysis for strategic planning activities.

  • Work with the Leadership Team in creating and driving value within business (stretch targets). Measured by profit improvement (wider margins), lower cost and driving performance. Focused management of most critical risks and opportunities.

  • Support the enterprise/business with new business activities and issues resolution, including MADJV, business transactions, tax and customs issues, monitoring the performance of the new acquired business etc. and liaising with legal and other cross-functional departments as necessary.

  • Play a very focal role in the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) exercise. Be the facilitator to the Integrated Review of the Integrated Business Planning (iBP) process in addition to actively contributing to other segments of iBP, such as Product Management Review, Demand Review and Supply Review.

  • Understand, translate and provide insight into business performance against competitor & industry trends with an uncanny ability to connect the dots.

  • Provide necessary support to accomplish annual plans/strategy.

  • Participate in customer solution teams with focus on offering financial solutions to customers.

  • Deliver clear presentations including defending positions on controversial topics, adapt style to continuously seek ‘win-win’ solutions.

  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Project Management Office, Continuous Improvement Lead, Strategic Pricing Analyst etc.. in ensuring progress vis-à-vis promise for various projects and initiatives are tracked and shared with the Leadership Team and stake-holders.

  • Cordinate and manage the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial Review of the business.

  • Being part of a pool of FP&A talents, participate in Corporate / Enterprise / Group level projects and initiatives.

  • Any other work, as assigned

Business Partnership and Leveraging of Resources (30%):

  • Provide broad knowledge of and connect with right relationships with COE partners for areas such as Tax, Treasury, Risk Management, Controls, etc.

  • Partner closely with COE and cross-business/functional senior managers to play an active role in enhancing connectivity and communication.

  • Partner closely and leverage the Accounting & Finance teams for key information points including historical reporting and data collection. May include activities related to cost accounting, margin reporting, analysis of data and management reports, activity based costing or cost allocation to products and customers, management reports generation, etc.

Other Relevant Information

  • Ability to travel internationally.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance or other Business related degree

  • 5 - 7 years relevant experience

  • Experience in business analysis, and providing meaningful insights

  • Ability to integrate and interpret disparate sources of data using broad range of analytical data tools. Incorporate use of statistical methodology and predictive modeling techniques. Design, develop and implement value-added business analytics.

  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen. Ability to understand the business (products/services, customers, processes) and their key drivers of success (how they make money, what the business costs are etc..).

  • Demonstrates high degree of curiosity. Invest time and energy into learning. Seeks different points of view and perspectives (internal and external).

  • Approaches work with a global perspective

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business or Finance

  • Experienced business analyst

  • International business experience
