Position Purpose & Summary

Cargill Risk Management seeks to hire a Director of Analytics for its Business Development team. Business Development team works with the leadership team to set strategic direction and prioritize growth initiatives. This role will explore new growth opportunities and expedite the commercialization of new products and services, with focus on data analytics to advance our capabilities to meet changing customer needs. Provide leadership of Cargill Risk Management Data Analytics and visualization consulting capability

Principal Accountabilities

Business Development – 80%

  • Develop business case by assessing customer needs, industry trends, competitive landscape/competitive advantage and strategic alignment. Establish implementation plan including building/acquiring of necessary capabilities

  • Key contributor to our growth strategy as we enable Cargill Risk Management to be more data-driven in their decision-making through data analysis, business intelligence, and data visualization.

  • Stay on top of changes in competitive landscape and perform benchmark analysis

  • Explore new growth opportunities in new markets and new channels

  • Serve as player/coach in data analytics to extract business insights across CRM

Strategy Development – 20%

  • Keep current with the market and trends impacting our clients’ businesses.

  • Work with product lines on their strategy needs

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, Statistics or related field,

  • 5 years minimum relevant work experience, such as strategy and business development or financial/commodity commercial experience (e.g. trading, merchandising/sales), OR MBA degree in Data Science, Finance, Statistics or related field, plus 2 years minimum relevant work experience, such as strategy and business development or financial/commodity commercial experience (e.g. trading, merchandising/sales)

  • Strategic thinking skills and ability to add structure to nebulous issues/problems/situations, and undertake project assignments with minimal supervision

  • Strong analytical skills to translate data into business insights, proficiency with a statistical programming package (e.g. R, Python) and visualization tool (e.g. Tableau)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - ability to effectively influence decision makers across the globe/multiple layers/functions

  • Ability to manage change and/or lead the change

  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to produce clear and concise presentation materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial software development including use of version control systems
