Position Purpose & Summary

The Stable Operations Deployment Lead position is responsible to drive the development and execution of Continuous Improvement projects and programs for the Salt business. This position is responsible for delivering breakthrough performance results in process and efficiency in identified areas of opportunity. The Stable Ops Deployment Lead builds capability of the business in data-based decision making and structured problem solving and ensures the successful application of CI tools and methodologies for the program. This is accomplished through deploying program best practices, leading operational effectiveness and performance dialogues, project planning, coaching and problem solving, and change and people management. This role requires a leader who can partner effectively with all levels of the organization.

This position provides and seeks guidance to/from the BU Manufacturing Excellence team members, BU/Function Operational Support, Site Continuous Improvement Leads and facility team members.

Open to candidates in this position to work remote, sit at one of our Salt facilities across the nation, or at our Hopkins, MN office.

Principal Accountabilities

65%Continuous Improvement Project and Program Leadership

  • Lead and facilitate change in CI culture to significantly improve business and functional alignment and organizational execution. Partner with leaders on the execution of Production Excellence programs and projects. Provide feedback on Production Excellence business plans including project selection, scope and definition to ensure alignment with the business strategy and PE portfolio. Drive CI culture change through best practice sharing, vocal advocacy, and visible leadership. Provide coaching to grow capability in problem solving. Use statistical analysis tools to identify trends, opportunities and insights. Execute ongoing change and communication activities, improvement targets, and implementation of programs. Align activities to support safety and quality culture while delivering productivity improvement targets.

35%Program Execution and Value Realization

  • Conduct Production Excellence workshops and cross-functional Continuous Improvement Projects to lead the teams in sustainable performance improvements. Make recommendations for the improvement of Production Excellence programs and processes.

  • Assist the Salt PE Lead in program administration and coordination, including the development and execution of PE program and project strategy and plans. Align with finance for accurate recording of value. Participate and coach in communication of status of program goals and objectives with team members and other stakeholders through Tiered Governance.

Education, Experience, Skills

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • College Degree – BS/BA in Business, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience, directly or indirectly managing others in a manufacturing or operations

  • Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt or experience leading 2 or more improvement projects

  • One or more years of experience managing projects that span across multiples teams or functions within an organization to accomplish project goals

  • Experience building relationships remotely and working virtually

  • Technically competent with Microsoft Office Suite tools

  • Familiarity utilizing tools such as MiniTab, RT Duet, Informance, Model Elevator or other diagnostic tools.

  • Proven ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, and relate / compare facts from different sources to identify solutions

  • Ability to build strong working relationships utilizing formal and informal networks within an organization to deliver results and remove obstacles for team members

  • Demonstrated experience with effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization

  • Proven ability to use expertise, experience, and network to manage through ambiguous situations

  • Experience acting as a role model and coach, tailoring coaching techniques to individuals and situations

  • Ability to communicate the program’s vision and mission, emphasizing how an individual’s work aligns with the strategic intent of the program and the organization as a whole

  • Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data

  • Ability to facilitate small and large cross-functional teams

  • Ability to travel up to 40%

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering

  • MBA

  • Black Belt or other Lean Six Sigma training certification

  • Experience leading implementation of processes and programs such as Stable Ops, Process Operability and Control, and TRACC

  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, tools, trends and best practices

  • Technical competency in Lean Six Sigma skills: DMAIC, Lean and process engineering

  • Operations and/or Maintenance leadership in a manufacturing facility

  • Process development and implementation

  • Experience working within a Manufacturing Excellence or Operational Excellence Model

  • Working knowledge of or experience working with Reliability Excellence maintenance practices

  • One or more years of experience leading an organization through rapid change using Change Management tools.

  • Experience with or exposure to Manufacturing Excellence in multiple Cargill businesses
