Description

The Salt Group has a #Bold2025 strategy that calls for “going beyond salt”. This implies, strengthening the core, extending the core and going beyond our current business model. The core businesses are organized into Water Quality, Road Safety and Food. To realize this ambitious strategy the group is standing up a Growth Ventures business, that will lead core capabilities of marketing, pricing, strategy, business development, portfolio management, and lead creation of an innovation model, bring the innovation to market & creating new businesses/PNL. Few of the incubated businesses may move to the incumbent businesses to scale. Others that are beyond current businesses may scale as separate businesses.

The Emerging Business Lead is responsible for managing a portfolio of innovation projects that are aimed towards increasing the Salt Group revenue by building sustainable businesses. The incumbent will lead a select set of initiatives with the goal of rapid commercialization and eventual transition of an established business to a market team. The Emerging Business Lead will staff resources as appropriate to help support the testing, execution, and commercialization of the business concept.

30% Strategy & Vision

  • Champions a robust and actionable innovation pipeline in partnership with the rest of the Growth Ventures team

  • Understand the vision, goals, and strategic priorities of the Salt Group, and ensures innovation projects are prioritized appropriately

  • Assists the Salt Group Leadership Team (SGLT) in establishing priorities and measurable goals for innovation in alignment with the Salt Group strategies

  • Develop a vision and strategy for each emerging business concept, ensuring action plans result in sustainable long-term growth for the Group

60% Innovation and New Business Development

  • Manages the efforts of ideation and incubation of new solutions to explore and pursue new concepts and market opportunities beyond the core

  • Develops an external eco-system of startups/VCs/other growth teams/professional services to tap into as needed

  • Drives select projects from ideation to execution by leading a team that may include project managers, commercial analysts and technical experts

  • Develops rapid understanding of complex projects and industries within the context of the Salt Group to discover potential growth opportunities. Creates strategies to address emerging customer needs

  • Develops an actionable plan that tests key components of each business concept in order to quickly discontinue the initiative or develop further into a profitable business.

  • Manages concept development and pilot testing of new innovations with emerging markets and customers or through coordination Food, Water Quality and Road Safety teams

  • Engages the Sales teams, Strategy & Business Development Lead and the Market Leaders to understand market dynamics and opportunities and consolidate specific ideas and points of view

  • Develops and nurtures innovation processes across Cargill Salt Group to build a culture of innovation and blue sky thinking. Encourages tothers to experiment and push boundaries

  • Promotes a culture of delivering results in a matrix organization ensuring close coordination with teams in the Growth Ventures and in the Markets

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree

  • 8 years experience in bringing innovation to market, entrepreneurship or creating value for the businesses in rapid manner

  • Founder’s mentality

  • Passion to build a business from scratch

  • Ability to see the big-picture, develop strategies, and translate to action plans.

  • Creative problem solving

  • Resilience to overcome business challenges

  • Tech savvy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Serial entrepreneur looking to join a startup environment in a big company

  • Experience leading teams in incubation mode and experience of taking projects from idea to commercialization

  • Experience working in a startup environment with flexible staffing model

  • Work experience in related industries

  • Understanding of disruptive technologies
