Maintenance is a vital role in the daily operations of our facility. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities within this title. The types of roles available require troubleshooting, ensuring proper maintenance and operational status of equipment, using a variety of hand tools to set up, break down, adjust production line machinery, and performing other duties pertaining to hydraulics and pneumatics, all while making safety the number one priority. Maintenance requires being able to read manuals written in English and the ability to write and document information.

While performing the duties of Maintenance, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces; moving mechanical parts; fast paced warm/cool environment. Positions require standing the entire shift and the use of PPE is required in all areas of the facility.

Principal Accountabilities

This position performs maintenance of equipment for the hatchery operation on a rotating schedule of three days one week and four days the next, including every other weekend and holidays as required. In addition, the position fills in for vacation and illness of other maintenance employees.

Perform repetitive tasks. Examples include:

  • Using hand tools to perform maintenance on production machinery

  • Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Perform Predictive and Preventive Maintenance tasks.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system with ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, install, repair, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and systems.

  • Ensuring food safety and quality

  • Cleanliness and housekeeping

  • All other duties as requested by supervision.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be able to effectively communicate (Speak, read and write) in English regarding maintenance issues and troubleshooting of processes and equipment.

  • Must be able to perform general machine repair without assistance.

  • Must understand motor control and circuit repair.

  • Must be able to understand schematics and installation /operation manuals.

  • Equipment troubleshooting, Mechanical systems, , welding, , Electrical/Electronics, reliability and proactive maintenance and computer use.

  • Must learn and understand PM procedures for all Hatchery equipment.

  • Must be able to be trained and certified to operate a forklift, electric jack, pallet jack and aerial lift.

  • Must be able to legibly document information regarding temperature/humidity/PMs on daily/weekly worksheets

  • Ability to work flexible hours and or shifts.

  • Accuracy, precision, and dependability are a necessity.

  • Must be a self-starter and have good communication skills.

  • Must be a team player, but also must be able to work well alone.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years maintenance experience

  • Previous Cargill experience

  • Work history in the past 12 months

  • Plumbing Experience

  • HVAC Experience
