The shipping team leader is responsible for the loading and unloading of bulk tankers, refrigerated and dry trucks for all finished products, raw materials and packaging at the Georgetown Cocoa plant. This role will create and promote a safety focused team environment that promotes stakeholder enthusiasm, innovation and communication.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Loading / unloading of bulk tankers, refrigerated & dry trailers for all finished products, raw materials and packaging

  • Supporting the teams coordination / communication efforts on daily plans and forward looking weekly plans to ensure success for the shipping/receiving department across their stakeholders: Site EHS / FSQR / Ops and off- site supply chain, scheduling, Transportation and Logisitcs, Customs and Customer Service

  • Follow and enforce all Food Safety (HACCP), GMP’s, WHMIS, Health and Safety, and Environmental programs

  • Process documentation related to the shipment and receipt of all finished products and raw materials

  • Label, store, sample, and transfer materials within the warehouse and tank storage areas as required

  • Clean work areas and equipment as assigned or scheduled

  • Other assignments as required

This full time position is located in Georgetown, Ontario; however please expect receiving calls from a 204 number in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.



  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling and pounding with hammer

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

  • Ability to work in elevated areas

  • Must be able to operate machinery

  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment

  • Forklift certified

  • Must be able to read/write English

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work overtime

  • At least 3 years of experience in production related work

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada


  • Able to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) – ability to get message across to a variety of audiences

  • Strong people management & team building skills – ability to engage, develop and motivate a workforce

  • Strong problem solving skills in complex environments

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills

  • Strong computer literacy and eagerness to learn or ability to execute in SAP systems

  • Ability to flex from hands on role to Co-ordination and leadership modes and back often through the day
