Operations Management Internship:
As an Operations Management Intern, you will gain exposure to the workflow of plant and/or distribution operations. Potential business areas may include beef and poultry processing, egg processing, cooked further processing or grain processing. Interns will be given a project to improve a facet of the current operation, have the opportunity to use the skills you have gained in the classroom to a real life setting, and have the ability to take on additional projects that interest you. Additionally, Interns will be exposed to a number of areas to learn skills and gain knowledge necessary to succeed in an operations leadership role, including but not limited to:
Risk Management: Leadership in safety and regulatory compliance consistent with Cargill’s Guiding Principles. Food and Feed Safety are of critical importance to Cargill’s businesses.
Talent Management: Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of operations employees to ensure goals and standards of the organization are being met. Gain knowledge of Human Resources policies, participate in the hiring of new team members, and develop and implement strategies to maintain and increase employee engagement.
Reliability Excellence: Maintain plants to ensure they are at all times capable of serving and meeting customer requirements.
Operational Effectiveness: Lead plant operations in alignment with all business functions to effectively and efficiently achieve business and profitability objectives.
Capital Effectiveness : Effectively deploy capital and manage capital projects to ensure ongoing market competitiveness of plant assets.
- Continuous Improvement:_ Lead production process improvements through utilization of continuous improvement tools/activities.
Cargill offers both housing assistance and relocation reimbursement to interns who qualify (based on mileage).
Internships are paid and are normally 12 weeks in duration.
Day–to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern.
Cargill interns attend Intern Forum or Intern Farewell, an event designed to give exposure to leadership and cross-functional interns from across the U.S.
Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered a full-time position or a second internship the following year.

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in any discipline and graduating between December 2019 and May 2021.
Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
Willingness to work on weekends.
Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.
Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2019).
Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
Must be able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations.
Pursuing an agriculture or business-related degree (including but not limited to Animal Science, Ag-Economics, Ag-Business, Ag-Education, Agronomy, Food Science, Feed Science, Meat Science, Grain Science, Operations Management, Ag-Systems Management, Ag-Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanized Systems Management, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Distribution).
