Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain – North America (CASC NA) connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain. We help our customers compete in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and crop inputs products and solutions. CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.

As the Facility Leader , you will be directly responsible for results in each assigned area of the facility including EHS, Food Safety, operations, reliability excellence, employee engagement, talent development, local government officials and quality control. You will also lead all local operational aspects of manufacturing and accountability for development and meeting forecasted production, efficiency, cost targets and capital expenditure plans.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% - Operations

  • Develop working relationships as required with key customers; partner with the commercial team to ensure the plant delivers on customer requirements

  • Work with the location’s operations and commercial teams to manage overall site and Business Unit (BU) priorities to ensure proper allocation of labour to manage important issues

  • Facilitate communication between the Camrose facility and various BU leaders with issues that will affect other BU operations or synergies

  • Oversight and review of items pertaining to the annual operating budget, and work with the assistant VP of Operations around major capital expenditures

15% - Compliance

  • Ensure the facility is meeting all applicable laws and corporate policies and procedures, including the areas of Environment, Health & Safety, Food Safety

  • Ensure site compliance with Cargill’s Guiding Principles, corporate policies and internal controls

  • Ensure site security issues are properly managed

  • Serve as the location contact for local officials and community organizations, and is the designated site person for coordinating media communication

15% - Talent Management

  • Lead, coach and develop supervisory and plant team to achieve a high level of engagement and overall safety, operational and business goals

  • Ensure employees are managed consistently in all areas of the facility, including benefits and salary administration, hiring/orientation and other human resources matters

  • Direct local annual wage review processes and ensure all functional areas execute hourly Performance Management Process for mid-year and annual performance reviews

15% - Manage reliability excellence of all assets, equipment and machinery

15% - Ensure facility is compliant with all quality control procedures related to food safety



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 6 or more years of processing plant supervision experience

  • Superintendent experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem identification, problem solving and decision making skills

  • Deep and practical business acumen, along with a working knowledge of general business functions including Production, Quality Assurance and Human Resources

  • Strong understanding of local, provincial and federal laws governing the facility operations, as well as Cargill Policy requirements including EHS and Food Safety

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple tasks, projects and deadlines in a highly dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coach others for high performance and high engagement; motivate, inspire and engage others to excel and work toward a vision

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, to create and successfully implement a tactical execution plan from broad strategic concepts

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and take action to drive the facility forward

  • Demonstrated teamwork and ability to effectively collaborate with others

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others outside of formal reporting relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with key customers

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
