Responsibilities:

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for leading the implementation of EHS practices and standards for two malt plants in NA. The operational implementation and compliance with EHS management systems and standards is a shared responsibility of all plant leadership.The EHS Coordinator provides leadership and direction in the following areas: implementation of Malt EHS strategy, maintenance and continuous improvement of EHS management systems and shaping of the plant EHS culture.It is expected that the person in this position will spend a significant portion of time in all areas of the facility and interacting with plant and supervisory personnel

The EHS Coordinator is a specialist in EHS matters and will lead, assist and advise not only the supervising team in malt North America but share best practices into their peers in Malt and manage the EHS legal aspects applicable for that location on the implementation and improvement of the EHS systems.

The EHS coordinator reports directly to the Global EHS Manager and a dot-line reporting relationship to the North American operations manager.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% - Plan ,coordinate, and lead the implementation of the facility EHS management systems, policies, procedures, and work instructions;

20% - Supervise routine EHS compliance activities, by verifying compliance on paper and in the field; Coordinates and assures appropriate contractor management activities; Coach teammates, at all levels, on the improvement of processes, practices, and methods used in the operation.

10% - Develops and coordinates EHS training for facilities personnel.

10% - Coordinates EHS audit compliance and identifies and supports the implementation of required corrective actions; Leads the team in closing gaps in a sustainable way.

10% - Ensures EHS data is entered in the corporate EHS management system.Facilitates investigation of incidents and corrective action follow up, and mentors team on opportunities to improve.Reviews data for trending, reports findings to local team and Regional EHS Manager

5% - Monitors local EHS regulatory developments and implements appropriate responsive programs; Collaborates with agencies, industry and other Cargill facilities to bring leading practices to the business.

5% - Negotiates routine permit and minor enforcement matters with regulators; liases with Regional and BU EHS leadership

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Academic or Bachelor technical background (Mechanical, electrical, chemical or EHS engineer or similar).

  • 3 years of relevant experience in EHS

  • 2 years’ experience in industrial production/processing environment

  • Knowledge of risk assessment

  • Health, Safety and Environmental legislation

  • Intermediate/advanced English level

  • Advanced knowledge of Office applications

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Process Safety Management

  • Qualified EH&S auditor
