Provide technical support and direction to the mining and surface operations through short & long term needs planning, capital & expense budgeting and assistance in problem resolution.
Provide design, estimating, bidding, construction and completion of capital and expense projects.
Increase operational & maintenance efficiencies through the use of various studies, continuous improvement tools and expert knowledge.
50% Capital and Expense projects – Projects completed in a timely manner, within budget and perform at or above expectations.
- Capital and Expense Projects including: New equipment selection and purchase, replacing outdated components or hardware, infrastructure including hoists & conveyors control upgrades, power distribution upgrades, planning electrical needs and usage for future mining, reducing energy consumption.
20 % Short and long term planning – Develop accurate short and long term plans to support business strategy. These plans should address roadblocks, financial requirements and personnel needs.
Planning Projects to include:
Planning around the communication system needs and replacement schedule of infrastructure on the surface plant or in the mine.
Facilitate the planning for electrical needs and locations of infrastructure to support mining efforts, short and long range.
Conduct studies on power needs and usage, efficiencies and potential efficiency improvements to conserve energy consumption.
Involved in equipment selection, upgrades or rebuilds/replacement.
Evaluation of the electrical infrastructure, such as power cables, motors, transformers and capacitors, to ensure proper maintenance and efficient operation.
Types of equipment to purchase to support mining, maintenance /repair work on critical electrical components, improvements to reduce energy consumption or increase reliability, installation of new equipment.
Safe and effective project management including MSHA/OSHA compliance and contractor management.
15% Technical support – Provide technical support to the operation in the engineer’s area of expertise in order to minimize potential downtime, improve safety, solve problems and help ensure effective decisions are made.
15% Continuous Improvement – Stay current in area of expertise in order to promote new technologies. Utilize continuous improvement tools to reduce costs and
Minimum Required Qualifications:
B.S. Engineering – Electrical or related engineering field
Ability to work in underground mine, work at heights, lift up to 50lbs, available to work rotating shifts when needed, travel as needed
Demonstrated integrity & trust, high drive to accomplish goals
Effective written & verbal communications, ability to work in a team environment
3 years’ experience in heavy industrial setting
Design, repair, and troubleshooting of high voltage (4160v) equipment/systems, PLC, communication, and control systems.
Working knowledge of plant automation systems, Ethernet networks, wireless & VOIP systems
Working knowledge of PI/OSI data management system
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office(Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio) and AutoCAD
Project management experience
Underground or surface mining work environment, experience with MSHA/OSHA regulations
