Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for youto join the Cargill Malt Australia team as a Production Technician. Reporting intothe Production Manager, you will be based at Port Adelaide in South Australia andbe an integral member of the production team, responsible for various aspectsof malt production, raw material assessment, supply chain functions andlaboratory analysis. This role will rotate through all aspects of Maltproduction and require participation in physical tasks, a focus on planthygiene, diligent paperwork skills and commitment to EH&S, HACCP, QualitySystems, Environmental Issues and Customer Awareness.

As a recent Graduate with a backgroundin Chemical Engineering/Biology/Food/Agriculture industry, you will be ready toroll up your sleeves and excited to learn about the nuances of Malt production.You will bring in your superior organisation, interpersonal and team playerskills to develop positive working relationships.

You will be a self-starter, agile,robust and a resilient team player to be able to problem solve and thrive in afast paced working environment. Your ability to grasp a broad range of activities,adhere to processes and procedures, take initiatives and contribute towardsbuilding a strong safety culture will be key to the success of the role and willopen opportunities to further advance your career.



Responsible for the monitoring ofprocess conditions to ensure malting objectives set by the production managerare achieved. The Production Technician will rotate through all aspects of themalt production process, including grain receipt, testing, packing and hygieneactivities. Ensure any breakdowns or perceived problems are communicated to theMaintenance Department promptly.


Accountable for the safety of yourself, your workcolleagues, customers and contractors. Contribute and influence an environmentwhere EH&S is an integral part of how we do business. Take ownership and beinvolved and committed to achieve a safe workplace. Work to achieve a zero harmwork environment and strive for continuous improvement on EH&S performance.

Food Safety and Quality Management

Contribute to the development of a food safetyculture. Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to foodsafety and quality management. Ensure plant HACCP, Quality and ContinuousImprovement systems are followed and requirements are met;


Contribute to teamefforts to meet targets while operating within budget guidelines. Work closelywith Maintenance Team to trouble-shoot, problem-solve and continuously improve.Responsible for coordinating of hygiene staff activities and taking part indaily hygiene duties.

Qualifications andother requirements

  • A Degree in a Science or Engineering related discipline (preferred);

  • Some prior experience in plant operations in a process-related industry (food processing /materials handling will be well regarded;

  • Thisrole will require flexibility to be able to work a roster, which includesweekends and public holidays;

  • Thisrole will require flexibility to be able to work as part of a weekly rotating 'on call' roster to resolve after hours production issues at the plant eitherthrough remote access or periodic call outs as required.
