Job Purpose and Impact
The Confectionery & Ice Cream R&D Manager will drive and execute strategies for the category, using the company's regional research team. In this role, you will develop strategies to execute work through your team by guiding their collaboration with internal and external key partners to drive and support the business objectives and growth strategies through innovation, new product development and research.
Key Accountabilities
Develop research and development category strategy by collaborating with category business leaders and customers to identify opportunities to leverage existing products and emerging research and technology innovations as well as to identify areas for future business growth.
Build the research and development category architecture including planned projects and opportunity spaces and make strategic choices on objectives and targets with a clear target to build business through projects related to new business development and new products or solutions offerings.
Build strong functional working relationships and collaborate with customers and internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive areas of research as well as anticipate trends.
Ensure programs, processes and control mechanisms comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
Create and maintain the budget and expenses for the research team, align resources to deliver on strategic plans and execute programs that create operating efficiencies.
Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other related field or equivalent experience
Research and development work experience with direct business to business or business to consumer customer experience
Minimum of six years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
PhD or master’s degree in scientific discipline
Three years of supervisory experience
Experience leading a team of Applications and Technical Services scientists.
