Cargill Commodity Analyst in Gurgaon, India

Job Purpose and Impact

We seek a Commodities Analyst who will retrieve, analyze and summarize data to develop business intelligence, optimize effectiveness and predict business outcomes. In this role you will join an existing team that focuses on the forecasting of supply and demand for India Vegetable oils. These insights are then used for managing operations in Cargill’s Plants, as well as for risk management purposes in the commodities market. This role will have extensive communication and collaboration with the trading teams in Cargill and requires a good understanding of data manipulation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct supply and demand analysis on India edible oils market focusing on

  • Production patterns of vegetable oils in India o Import trends from global origins

  • Analyze the price data for vegetable oils and maintain the data base o Forecast vegetable oil demand for Biodiesel space

  • Help monitor market conditions, trends and competitors to project demand.

  • Working closely with Cargill’s GEOS team to forecast demand/pipeline reading for own refineries.

  • Generating insights from in-house data that is gathered by the refinery business.

  • Working closely with the Global Analytics team to assess practices that could be applied in the India veg oil analytics space.

  • Communicating with various commercial teams within Cargill to generate supply and demand insights.

  • Analyzing the market segment by evaluation of macro-economic movements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Economics, Engineering etc.) or equivalent experience.

  • The person is required to be analytically strong, have an inquisitive mind and be a self- starter.

  • Knowledge of programming language such as Python, along with statistical modelling background is preferred.

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI is preferred
